The GEAK Plus report goes further. When should a cantonal grant enter the decision?
A cantonal grant enters the decision after an eligible project has been defined and before work begins. Measures and conditions differ by canton; GEAK Plus may be required or supported in some cases. The application must follow the right sequence. Available national funding is never a promise that an individual grant will be paid.
The Buildings Programme is run by the Confederation and implemented by the cantons. Cantons choose the supported measures and conditions within a harmonised framework. The official Buildings Programme directs owners to contact the cantonal service, obtain advice, prepare a concept and submit the application before starting work.
The chronology has a practical consequence: signing, ordering or starting too soon may jeopardise support for the relevant measure.
